Never forget, it wasn’t the American people who picked W. It was the 5 supreme court republicans

Nothing being covered here hasn’t been said before, but for the past several weeks, Tweety has had a burr under his saddle, and won’t stop repeating this same warning.

I’ve heard parliamentary and constitutional experts say that Trump’s biased Federalist Society and/or the racist Heritage Foundation’s supreme court nominee is a done deal.  Done as early as September 13th 2018.

Nevertheless what Chris Mathews is warning is spot on. The added context Mathews covers is important, but the message should also include calling out a few Dem senators and another few decent (?) American republican senators to do their part in halting this deliberate travesty of justice

Matthews: Democrats need to resist Trump’s SCOTUS pick

 — June 28th, 2018

Chris says there is nothing that the Congress decides this year or the years ahead that is likely to matter as much as this decision to what kind of country we all live in.

Here is an excerpted transcript covering the video segment:

MATTHEWS: “Trump Watch”, Thursday, June 28th, 2018.

What I said last night about the need to resist having a Trump-like justice on Supreme Court is true tonight. It will be just as true 30 years from now when that Trump-like justice will have worked his will for three decades.

I say this because there’s nothing that the Congress decides this year or the years ahead that is likely to matter as much as this decision.

We attacked and invaded Iraq because we had the one president that would have taken on such an extraordinarily horrible and stupid course.

Never forget, it wasn’t the American people who picked W.

It was the five Republican voters on Supreme Court. They picked that president. That limited man who called himself the decider who decided on this war of choice.

We live in a country where guns are everywhere now. Assault rifles, guns that serve as fully automatic, guns with ammo magazines and allow some killer standing in a school to kill everyone in a classroom.

It was this 5-4 Supreme Court that broke with long constitutional history to declare owning a gun of any kind is an unrestricted and unrestrictable right, ignoring all the words of the Founding Fathers that they were talking about the need to raise an armed militia.

It was this 5-4 Supreme Court that money should have unrestricted power to turn American elections, that the side with the most dollars should have the biggest unlimited voice in our popular elections.

So, don’t let anyone tell you picking this decisive member of the Supreme Court is not essentially a political decision, to pick a Republican justice is to have a Republican court.

If the Democrats and the United States Senate cannot resist Trump’s putting the country’s highest court in a death grip, they will and should pay an insufferable price.

Now is the time for political warfare, not after this election when the enduring historic damage had already been sustained.

That’s HARDBALL for now. Thanks for being with us.

(end of transcript for this segment of the program)

Although what Chris Mathews fails to emphasize, and it is important, is that the United States supreme court is under attack from the “conservative" movement. Not the Dems by and large.

All of us except a tiny minority of $donors in positions of political power will pay the price one way or another. But with a dead Environmental Protection Agency even those wealthiest $ donors will find all of their privileges and favored positions in power just as useless against the mounting negative effects of global warming

The main points made listed here obtain today, with more looming threats listed below:

 • there’s nothing that the Congress decides this year or
the years ahead that is likely to matter as much as this decision

 • We attacked and invaded Iraq because we had the one president that would have taken on such an extraordinarily horrible and stupid course. [100’s of thousands of lives lost]

 • Never forget, it wasn’t the American people who picked W. It was the five
Republican voters on Supreme Court. They picked that president.

 • ignoring all the words of the Founding Fathers, It was this
5-4 Supreme Court that broke with long constitutional history to declare
owning a gun of any kind is an unrestricted..

 • It was this 5-4 Supreme Court that money should have unrestricted power to
turn American elections —Citizens United

 • to pick a Republican justice is to have a partisan Republican court that will run roughshod over long held precedence and settled law (stare decisis) —as advertised and campaigned on by Trump and republican politicians btw

*  *  *

And let me add to the list of bullet points that many other people on both sides of the aisle and all over the political spectrum, have raised as alarming goals of the “conservative” movement and Trump/GOP by packing the supreme court with extremist and reactionary ideologues:

•Banning all Muslims from entering America permanently (already half way there)

•banning all immigrants that are PoC, including legal immigrants, migrant workers Zero path to citizenship), and those seeking asylum from war torn countries — iow’s any person of color— permanently — yes, even SCOTUS John Glover Roberts can not be trusted

 • Women will lose all right to privacy and the right to control their bodies and reproductive future (Carolyn Fiddler nails the reality of it here) — Roe v Wade overturned (Laura Clawson exposes the two-faced republicans lying about what they seek) — Trump on women’s rights: “there must be some form of punishment”

 • the already weakened Voting Rights Act — being dismantled by SCOTUS “conservatives” (Ari Berman)

 • the right to marry who one loves —marriage equality gone —Obergefell vs. Hodges (the decision that legalized same-sex marriage),

  • When Wallace questioned if Trump truly meant that he “might try to appoint justices to overrule the decision on same-sex marriage,” the candidate responded by affirming that he “would strongly consider that.”

 •collective bargaining— outlawed

  • the guarantee of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid— a thing of the past

 • the New Deal social programs — undone — the “conservatives” like Gorsuch, on the bench claim to uphold New Deal programs — but still consider social programs to be “experimental” — Edit Memo: Inside Trump’s Plan to Pack Our Courts and Repeal the New Deal

  • the Consumer Financial protection Bureau — its mandate reversed to instead shield Wall Street and Big Banks from lawsuits brought by people that have been screwed

 • the Environmental Protection Agency (link to Meteor Blades articles @ cleantechnica.com) — controlled by the Industries that deny and hide their environmental pollution and their role in Global warming

  — and that list is just a taste of the GOP’s to-do-list

These are the types of reactionary extremists that now control the GOP

The supreme court nominees are being “vetted” (chosen) by the biased Federalist Society and the racist Heritage Foundation.

Paul Weyrich, the co-founder of the segregationist/racist Heritage foundation: and ALEC

Paul Michael Weyrich (October 7, 1942 – December 18, 2008)[1][2][3][4] was an American religiousconservative political activist and commentator, most notable as a figurehead of the New Right.

He co-founded the conservative think tanksThe Heritage Foundation,[5] the Free Congress Foundation, and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). He coined the term "moral majority," the name of the political action group Moral Majority that he co-founded in 1979 with Jerry Falwell.

Weyrich (video):

“I don’t want everybody to vote..”

 — and that GOP objective hasn’t changed a bit — Charles P. Pierce nails it | January 25th, 2017:

I Can Hear the Squawk of Jim Crow

In which the age-old effort to make white votes count more takes on a new appearance.

Ever since Barack Obama was elected in 2008, it has been the committed position of the Republican Party to suppress the franchise among those people to whom the Republican party cannot appeal. It has done so by promulgating the myth of massive voter fraud in the face of all the available evidence, because it knows it can convince its base of pale mouth breathers of just about anything. This strategy has worked out splendidly, and now it's going to be supercharged by a fit of personal pique coming straight from the Oval Office.

Wonderful. Just as the Founders intended.

*  *  *

So for all those republican like Maine’s senator Susan Collins and Alaska senator Lisa Murowski both who claim to be ‘pro-choice' pretending that they will not vote in favor of seating any supreme court nominee that threatens a women’s right to privacy and control of her own body — prove it — protect women, this country and democracy

And for those Dem senators under pressure to cave, who may be thinking it the only way to hold their seats (?)

It is not

Each have a choice. Each should uphold a higher standard of ethics. Higher even than those few (rare to non-existent) republican senators that claim to be 'pro-choice' and against an extreme ideologue “legislating from the bench”

It is your duty to your country; Joe Donnelly (D- Indiana), Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota), Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia). The same goes for all the bullet points listed above - and more reasons that aren’t.

Shout these bullet points from the roof tops. Make the case in your own way for the absolute need for a fair, impartial, unbiased United States supreme court.

Some tweets that cover what is really going on in this country:

When Trump began his campaign parroting the GOP’s racist birtherism crap, then followed that with an all out assault on PoC calling them rapists, animals, vermin, and whatever his idiot criminal mind could come up with in the moment of pure projection, it eventually exposed the entire GOP for exactly what they are, what they stand for, and what the infinitesimal minority of extremely wealthy donors they exclusively cater to mean to do to this country. None of it a democracy. None of it good. All of it fomenting racial animus to divide, conquer, and tighten their grip on power. Nothing apparently is too low. No betrayal too egregious

Raspberry time-out

Now it’s time for the second raspberry picking session before the baby chipmunks get ALL the ripe ones. Bird netting kept the birds from taking more than their fair share, but these very cute baby chipmunks have me racing around just to get a bowl full — be back in awhile ♪♫♪
